I Dream In Black And White

Dans un sursaut de clémence, le ciel belge nous a accordé un peu de douceur ce weekend. Depuis lors, j’ai craqué et enfilé mon manteau le plus chaud. Chaque année, Je repousse ce moment fatidique qui signifie que j’accepte d’avoir franchi un point de non-retour dans l’hiver. Bref, j’ai quand-même pu porter cette robe-chemise une fois avant de la ranger en attendant le retour du printemps.

Je trouve toujours limité le nombre de tenues que je peux porter avec mes cuissardes sans tomber dans le vulgaire. Le fait que je mesure 1m78 et que les talons sont assez hauts n’aide pas. Ici j’ai joué sur le N&B, les accessoires, et les matières pour apporter une touche classique et élégante.

Vous avez profité de votre long weekend (si, contrairement à moi, vous avez pu faire le pont) ? Moi, je me suis octroyé deux séances de ciné pour aller voir deux films radicalement différents, mais qui m’ont plu, chacun à leur manière: Doctor Strange, super divertissant et toujours jouissif pour la Marvel-movie-addict que je suis, et I, Daniel Blake, le dernier Ken Loach, Palme d’or à Cannes, un excellent film qui m’a complètement révoltée et attristée (ok, j’avoue, j’ai pleuré). J’ai aussi rattrapé mon retard dans Luke Cage (Marvel toujours).

Non, je n’ai pas passé mes jours off uniquement à chercher les cameos de Stan Lee. J’ai aussi fêté l’anniversaire d’une pote sur le thème Halloween (what else, un 31 octobre). Pour l’occasion je me suis essayée à un make-up serpent flippant que vous avez dû voir si vous me suivez sur FB, Insta, ou Snap. Je ne fêtais jamais Halloween avant, puisque c’est quand même une tradition importée des USA, et pas du tout aussi populaire ici. Depuis quelques années pourtant, j’ai mon petit rituel qui consiste en une soirée à thème et une journée à Walibi (j’y vais samedi prochain d’ailleurs). C’est plus une excuse pour boire un verre affublée d’un make-up improbable, et pour s’amuser dans une ambiance film d’horreur qu’autre chose.

In a surge of clemency, the Belgian sky bestowed a bit mildness upon us this weekend. Since then, I gave up and started wearing my warmest coat. Every year, I put that fateful day off because it means I have accepted that it’s winter and that there’s no going back. So I was happy to be able to wear this shirt-dress one time before having to put it away until spring.

The number of outfits I can wear with my over-the-knee boots without going over the top is still very limited. The fact that I’m 5 ft. 10 tall and that the heels are quite high doesn’t help at all. In this case, I played with the B&W, the accessories, and the textures to add a classic and elegant touch.

Did you enjoy your long weekend (if, unlike me, you had one)? I did get to go to the movies twice to see two very different films that were both to my liking in their own way: Doctor Strange, very entertaining and enjoyable for the Marvel-movie-addict that I am, and I, Daniel Blake, the latest Ken Loach, this year’s Palme d’Or at Cannes, an excellent movie that left me outraged and saddened (ok, I’ll admit it, I cried). I also caught up on Luke Cage (Marvel forever).

No, I did not spend all my time trying to find Stan Lee’s cameos. I also went to a friend’s Halloween-themed birthday party (what else on October 31st). For the occasion, I tried doing a scary snake-like makeup that you must have seen if you’re following me on FB, Instagram or Snap. I never used to celebrate Halloween as this tradition is imported from the US and isn’t as popular around here. However, these past few years I’ve started a little ritual which consists in going to a Halloween party and spending a day in Walibi, an amusement park here in Belgium (as a matter of fact, I’m going there this Saturday). It’s really just an excuse to spend an evening dressed up in an improbable way, and to get to have fun in a horror movie atmosphere.
