The Not So Perfect Dress

Voici le deuxième look shooté par Letizia dans les jolis recoins de Mons.

Cette robe, c'est un peu la métaphore parfaite de ce que sont les réseaux sociaux. La plupart du temps, on y affiche ce qu'on veut bien montrer, et on a tendance à dissimuler le négatif derrière son plus beau sourire ou sa pose la plus savamment réfléchie. Cette pièce est aussi pratique que les photos sur Instagram sont instantanées. On se fait aisément avoir par les magnifiques clichés qui circulent en ligne. En réalité, le tissu est un peu trop fin et la fente pas assez au point pour permettre de se balader sans crainte de verser dans l'exhibitionnisme (Je rajouterais un mini short ou un cycliste pour me sentir à l'aise). Quoi qu'il en soit, si voir un vêtement partout me rend généralement peu disposée à l'acheter, ça m'a quand même poussée à l'essayer par curiosité. Je suis parfois faible face au marketing, mais je suis pas non plus débile. J'ai fini par sortir le portefeuille pour une raison. Tout d'abord, je trouvais que la coupe et le vert émeraude étaient vraiment flatteurs. Ensuite, la robe peut aisément faire office de long gilet, façon kimono, le genre de pièce que je ne me lasse pas d'ajouter à ma garde-robe.

Si la robe/le gilet ne fait pas partie de mes choix les plus écoresponsables en matière de fringues, c'est tout le contraire pour mes chaussures. (Je suis une femme de contrastes, que voulez-vous?) Je les ai trouvées dans une boutique au cœur de Palerme qui regorgeait de pièces neuves, mais vintage. On m'a judicieusement conseillé ce magnifique modèle de mules 70s en cuir et ça a été le coup de foudre. Si jamais vous passez par la Via Maqueda un jour, allez faire un tour au Magazzini Anita entre deux dégustations d'arancini et de cannoli.

Ce weekend j'ai participé au défilé pour Tim Ralph Couture, une marque crée par ma chère Nawel et son amie. Tous les vêtements ont été faits à la main dans leur petit studio de Mons et ce dimanche était un peu la consécration de nombreuses heures de travail. Si vous avez suivi mes stories Instagram, vous avez pu voir quelques images de l'événement et de la collection colorée. C'est vraiment agréable de voir des esprits créatifs locaux concrétiser leurs projets et mettre en place quelque chose de si réussi à force de temps et d'efforts. Du coup, si vous cherchez quelqu'un pour vous confectionner l'une ou l'autre pièce unique et sur mesure, n'hésitez pas à vous adresser à elles. (Oui, je fais l'apologie du local, du made in Belgium et du vintage dans un post où je porte du Primark et c'est n'importe quoi.)

Bon allez, je vais voir si j'arrive encore à supporter une soirée au Doudou.

Here's the second outfit from the photoshoot with Letizia in Mons' cutest spots.

This dress is a bit of a perfect metaphor for what social networks are all about. Most of the time, we post what we want to show, and we tend to hide the negative aspects behind our most beautiful smile or our most carefully chosen poses. This garment is as practical as the pictures on Instagram are instantaneous. You're easily fooled by the beautiful snapshots that go around online. In reality, the fabric is a little too thin and the slit not well thought-out enough to allow you to walk around without being afraid of falling into exhibitionism (I would add mini or cycling shorts to feel comfortable). Anyway, if seeing something everywhere generally makes me reluctant to buy it, it still made me want to try it out of curiosity. I'm sometimes weak against marketing, but I'm not completely stupid. When I finally decided to pay for it, it was for a reason. Firstly, I thought the cut and the emerald green were really flattering. Secondly, the dress can easily be used as a long cardigan, kimono style, the kind of items I can't get enough of.

If the dress/cardigan is not one of my most eco-responsible clothing choices, it is the opposite for my shoes. (I am a woman of contrasts, you see?) I found them in a shop in the heart of Palermo that was full of new, yet vintage clothes and accessories. I was wisely advised to try on these gorgeous 70s leather mules and it was love at first sight. If you ever go through Via Maqueda one day, go have a look at Magazzini Anita in between two arancini and cannoli tastings.

This weekend I took part in the fashion show for Tim Ralph Couture, a brand created by my dear Nawel and her friend. All the clothes were handmade in their small studio in Mons, and this Sunday kind of represented the public recognition of many hours of work. If you've followed my Instagram stories, you've seen a few images of the event and of the colourful collection. It's really nice to see local creative minds making their projects concrete and putting something so successful in place with time and effort. So if you're looking for someone to make you a unique and tailor-made garment, don't hesitate to contact them. (Yes, I'm advocating for the local, the made in Belgium and the vintage in a post where I wear Primark and that's nonsense.)

Well, I better go and see if I can still handle a night at the Doudou.
